Children's Feet & Lower Limb Conditions

(Podopaediatrics)

Podopaediatrics is the branch of podiatry concerned with the treatment of conditions affecting children. Podiatrists are trained to recognise normal developmental milestones in children’s posture & motor skills, enabling to identify any irregularities. They will take into account the child’s medical history and following a full and thorough examination and assessment make appropriate recommendations. These may include treatment with orthotics, exercise or stretching regimes, further observation or referral. Some conditions particularly affect the growing child, causing them considerable discomfort at times, whilst very occasionally more serious issues can initially present with lower limb problems. Symptoms can often be relieved by appropriate assessment, advice and treatment.
