First Regular Foot Care Appointments

Your first appointment will involve a thorough assessment and will include questions about your medical history, current medication and other relevant information which could affect your treatment, such as lifestyle and family history. An examination of the blood flow and sensation in your feet will be carried out, followed by appropriate treatment. This first appointment will take slightly longer than usual to allow time for the necessary assessments and history taking.

Regular Foot Care

Regular foot care appointments always begin with examination of your feet and discussion of any concerns with you. Toenails are cut and shaped, all hard skin or corns are removed and deep moisturising foot lotion is applied. Other treatments are carried out as necessary and foot care advice is given.

Local Anaesthesia

Local anaesthesia is available if appropriate and required for any particularly painful lesions or nails. A surcharge applies.

Routine Verucca Treatment

Verrucas are caused by a virus and affect most people at some point in their life. Any verruca treatment aims to stimulate your body's own immunity to fight off the virus, so it will take more than one appointment to achieve results. A number of different treatments are available and these will be discussed and agreed with you at your appointment. If the treatment is for a child under 10 years old please call me to discuss before booking the appointment.

Verucca Needling                                                                           £350

Lynne is one of a limited number of podiatrists in the UK to administer the effective `needling` technique for Verrucae. The theory behind needling is to damage the infected epidermal tissue to invoke a controlled inflammatory response which stimulates an immune response and clears the virus. The treatment has been in successful use for over 40 years. It is different from a routine verruca treatment in that it usually involves only one treatment.

A local anaesthetic is administered prior to the procedure and the verruca is then punctured with a fine needle to introduce the virus to the bloodstream and trigger the immune response. Only one verruca is treated as healing of the main lesion will often result in clearance of all smaller ones on both feet. The cost of this treatment includes the procedure itself and up to three follow up appointments after the treatment.

“ My eight-year old daughter had a painful heel & Lynne quickly put her at ease, managing to get lots of infomation from her. After a thorough examination she identified the problem as Sever's Disease & recommended a course of action which quickly cleared it up. I found her knowledgeable, understanding and approachable."

Nail Surgery (One toe / Two toes)                                      £375/£425

Following a consultation appointment, ingrown toenails which cannot be managed conservatively can be partially or fully removed using a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthetic. A chemical is usually applied to prevent re-growth.  Follow up appointments for redressing and to check healing are also included.

An ingrowing toenail (known as onychocryptosis) punctures the flesh of the toe, causing pain and bleeding - sometimes resulting in infection. Although usually affecting the big toe, ingrown nails can also affect other toes.

Biomechanical Assessment
& Insoles (Orthotics)

A biomechanical assessment takes around 60 minutes and is usually arranged to try & reduce pain, discomfort or poor co-ordination in the foot, leg, knee or lower back. Foot orthoses (insoles) to alter or correct any biomechanical problems are often the most cost effective and appropriate treatment to reduce or prevent these symptoms. The aim is always to provide correct alignment of the feet & lower limbs to reduce stress on the rest of the body.   The appointment involves examination & observation of your entire lower limb, gait (the way your limbs & feet move during walking) and alignment of your upper body to identify causes of pain. Assessment will involve checking the quality and range of motion of joints and specialist tests will identify problems with specific structures. Based on the outcome of the assessment an appropriate pair of orthotics can be ordered at an additional cost, which depending on your particular problem may be standard, semi bespoke or fully bespoke. Please wear loose fitting trousers or shorts for a biomechaincal assessment, and also bring with you a selection of your footwear, including a well worn pair of shoes and your trainers if the problem is sport related.

Foot, Leg and Knee Pain

Foot, leg, knee, and pain caused by deformed toes or after surgery can all be treated by a podiatrist. Usually a biomechanical assessment (see above) will be carried out and orthoses, footwear advice, exercise regimes and pain relief advice will be given. With your consent, referrals may be made to other health professionals via your G.P.
