Foot Pain & Injuries

The foot contains at least 26 bones and numerous tendons and ligaments as well as other structures & connective tissue.  Pain and injury can occur almost anywhere in the foot and the specialist knowledge of a podiatrist enables them to ascertain exactly which structure is involved and how it can best be remedied.

The foot is an intricate structure which is designed to work in different ways at different points of the gait cycle.  If its structure prevents the foot from working correctly throughout the gait cycle injury & pain become more likely.

Bespoke therapeutic insoles provided by a podiatrist can realign the foot so that it functions in the right way at the right time, reducing pain and the likelihood of conditions which affect sports people.  A biomechanical assessment is needed to determine whether therapeutic insoles will help you. Please see the the treatments tab to find out what a biomechanical assessment involves.
