Sports Conditions and Injuries

Podiatrists assess, analyse and treat foot and gait abnormalities and lower limb injuries that occur in the sporting and active population. Our approach is to use insoles and orthoses to affect the way the foot interacts with the ground during walking and running, which can help the conditions below and others such as knee, hip, back, heel and forefoot pains and tendonitis.

For each of the problems below assessment carried out by a podiatrist will often reveal that the structure and/or function of the lower limb is placing undue stress on joints, muscles, tendons or ligaments. A podiatrist will devise a treatment plan involving orthotics to realign the lower limb, provide exercise, footwear and stretching advice, and also recommend referral for any further investigations considered appropriate.

We also cover basic needs involving callus and corns, blisters and nail disorders resulting from sporting activity.
